Local Hate Crime Update

Local Hate Crime Update

See the latest update on hate crime locally—we’re aware and taking action.

On the 7th of October which is an important date for many of our community Abbey Road ward officers assisted with a Board of Deputies vigil on Richmond Terrace. A large number of local ward officers were present to support the event and provide reassurance. No offences or incidents were reported to police.

Hatred and violence have no place in our city.

When someone is assaulted or abused due to their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or whether they are transgender, then a hate crime may have occurred, and you should report this to the police.

We are committed to a Met that is completely anti-discriminatory and treats all Londoners fairly – policing without fear or favour.

We have recently announced the launch of our brand-new Community Protection Teams, bringing together neighbourhood, specialist and counter terrorism officers together to tackle hate in all of its forms.

More details of what counts as a hate crime or incident can be found on our website, as well as tool to report hate crime specifically, including if it was online.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
